こころみの世にあれど（英語:Be Thou My Vision、アイルランド語：Bí Thusa 'mo Shúile) は、アイルランドに由来するが、現在は全世界の英語圏の教会で歌われているキリスト教の伝統的な賛美歌。キリストを愛して従う者に与えられる内的平和を表現した讃美歌。[1] 映画リバー・ランズ・スルー・イットの登場する教会で会衆が歌った。

歴史 編集

もともとの古典アイルランド語のテキストの「Rop tú mo Baile」は時々は6世紀の聖人ダラン・フォーゲイル（英語版）に帰する。歌詞は、音楽がつけられるまでの数世紀はアイルランドの修道院の伝道の一部であった。それは、古典アイルランド語から、アイルランド語の学校の機関紙のエリウの修士メアリ・E・バーンによって、1905年に英語に翻訳された。英語の歌詞は1912年にエリーノル・H・ハルによって最初に曲につけられた。それが、現在最もよく使われる。
