ウォルター・ラフィーバー

ウォルター・ラフィーバー（Walter LaFeber、1933年8月30日 - 2021年3月9日 ）は、アメリカ合衆国の歴史学者。専門は、アメリカ外交史。米国で最も著名な修正主義学派の1人として知られ、ウィスコンシン学派と言われている。コーネル大学教授。

生涯 編集

インディアナ州生まれ。1955年ハノーバー・カレッジ卒業。1956年にスタンフォード大学で修士号を取得後、ウィスコンシン大学に移り、修正主義学派で有名なウィリアム・A・ウィリアムズの下で研究を進め、1959年に博士号取得。1963年から2006年までコーネル大学で教鞭をとる。

1998年、著書 The Clash: A History of U. S.-Japan Relations でコロンビア大学よりバンクロフト賞を受賞。

また、著書 America, Russia, and the Cold War は現在まで9版を重ね、戦後アメリカ外交史の代表的教科書として知られている。
