ジョン・ボイン（John Boyne、1971年4月30日 - ）は、アイルランドの作家。トリニティ・カレッジやイースト・アングリア大学で学ぶ。

2006年に出版した『縞模様のパジャマの少年』がベストセラーとなり、2008年にはマーク・ハーマンによって映画化された。

その他、ドキュメンタリー番組を中心にテレビ出演実績あり。

経歴 編集

1971年4月30日、ダブリンに生まれる。ダブリン大学で英文学を学ぶ。学士。イースト・アングリア大学で創造的作文法(creative writing)を学ぶ。1995年、カーティス・ブラウン賞受賞[1]。修士。

1993年、最初の短編がSunday Tribune より出版され、Hennessy Literary Awardの最終選考に残る[2]。

2007年、Carnegie Medalの最終選考に残る。"The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas"に対し Irish Book Award (最優秀児童書部門及び最優秀オーディオブック部門)。ビスト年間書籍賞 。"The Boy at the Top of the Mountain"に対しSpecsavers Irish Children's Book of the Year。

2008年、Qué Leader Award(最優秀外国小説部門)。

2009年、Orange Reader’s Group Prize。大学哲学学会(ダブリン大学)の名誉パトロン(Honorary Patron)に列せられる。"縞模様のパジャマの少年"、青少年読書感想文全国コンクール課題図書に選ばれる[3]。

2012年、Hennessy Literary Awardsの殿堂入り(Hall of Fame)[4]。

2014年、"Rest Day"に対し Irish Book Award (短編部門)[5]。
