German WW2 Minesweeper Prototype
Official designation:- VsKfz617
Jointly designed by Alkett, Krupp and Mercedes-Benz.
Intended for battlefield mine clearance and fitted with a Panzer I turret. It never went into production as its size and slow speed was thought to make it too good a target.
This sole prototype was completed by Alkett in 1942 and given the WkNo 9537. It was recovered by Soviet forces in April 1945 and taken to Kubinka for testing.
It is now on display in what is best known as Hall 5 of the Kubinka Tank Museum, although its official title is now Pavilion 5 in Area 2 of the Park Patriot museum.
Kubinka, Moscow Oblast, Russia.
