概要
| 解説 |
cross section: Myriophyllum stem common name: watermilfoil magnification: 40x The epidermis is uniseriate, consisting of a single layer of cutinized cells with slightly thickened outer cell walls. The hypodermis is thin and overlies an unusual two layered cortex consisting of outer and inner bands of packed photosynthetic parenchyma cells interrupted by a wide ring of large elongated air chambers. A well-defined starch sheath marks the boundary between the inner cortex and stele. Within the stele highly reduced vascular tissues are arranged in narrow rings of outer phloem and inner xylem arranged around a large parenchymatous central pith. Dark staining tannin producing cells are present through the entire stem. |
