反応式の通り、この酵素の基質は(5Z,13E)-(15S)-9α,11α,15-トリヒドロキシプロスタ-5,13-ジエン酸とNADP+、生成物は(5Z,13E)-(15S)-11α,15-ジヒドロキシ-9-オキソプロスタ-5,13-ジエン酸とNADPHとH+である。
組織名は(5Z,13E)-(15S)-9α,11α,15-trihydroxyprosta-5,13-dienoate:NADP+ 9-oxidoreductaseで、別名には以下のものがある。
