レスリー・フィードラー

レスリー・フィードラー（Leslie A(aron) Fiedler, 1917年3月8日 - 2003年1月29日）はアメリカの社会史家・文芸批評家。ユダヤ系。

生涯

ニュージャージー州に生まれる。1941年、ウィスコンシン大学にて博士号を取得。モンタナ大学教師、海軍中尉の後、ニューヨーク州立大学バッファロー校にあってサミュエル・L・クレメンズ教授としてアメリカ文学を教える傍ら、文筆活動に従事。「コメンタリー」や「パルチザン・レヴュー」などを中心に評論を発表し、アメリカ研究の“恐るべき子供”としてその価値を認められた。

評論集 "An End to Innocence"（1955年）などで論議を呼んだ。文学作品における「神話性」へのこだわりと、ジャンル・フィクションへの擁護で知られている。
