反応式の通り、この酵素の基質は5-メチルテトラヒドロメタノプテリンと補酵素F420、生成物は5,10-メチレンテトラヒドロメタノプテリンと還元型補酵素F420である。
組織名は5-methyltetrahydromethanopterin:coenzyme-F420 oxidoreductaseで、別名に5,10-methylenetetrahydromethanopterin cyclohydrolase、N 5,N 10-methylenetetrahydromethanopterin reductase、methylene-H4MPT reductase、coenzyme F420-dependent N 5,N 10-methenyltetrahydromethanopterin reductase、N 5,N 10-methylenetetrahydromethanopterin:coenzyme-F420 oxidoreductaseがある。
