GHQ（連合国軍最高司令官総司令部）占領下の日本国東京都に生まれた。ユタ州立大学イースタン先史博物館の館長であり、恐竜や中生代の生物に関する書籍の著述や共同著作を行っている。
略歴 編集
母親は日本人であり、5歳の時に母に連れられて見た映画『ゴジラ』がきっかけで恐竜に興味を持ち、特に作中で志村喬が演じていた古生物学者に憧れを抱くようになった。後に実際に古生物学者となった彼は、1997年、アメリカのニューメキシコ州で発見された新種の肉食恐竜を「ゴジラサウルス（Gojirasaurus)）」と命名した。
