アメリカのロックバンド

ウォーク・ザ・ムーン（Walk The Moon）は、アメリカ合衆国オハイオ州シンシナティに拠点を置き、2006年から活動するロックバンド。バンド名は、ポリスの「ウォーキング・オン・ザ・ムーン（Walking On The Moon）」から付けられた[5]。現在のメンバーはフロントマン、キーボーディストのニコラス・ペトリッカ、ギタリストのイーライ・メーマン、ドラマーのショーン・ワーガマンの3人。

経歴 編集

ニコラス・ペトリッカにより、2006年にシンシナティにて結成。ポリスの「ウォーキング・オン・ザ・ムーン（Walking On The Moon）」にヒントを得て、バンドを命名する。

2010年11月にインディーズ・デビューで、セルフ・リリース・アルバム『I WANT!WANT!』を発表。リード・シングルの「アナ・サン（Anna Sun）」Esquireの記事「すべての人が聞くべき30の夏の歌」に掲載されると注目を集め、MTVとSeventeen Magのソング・オブ・ザ・サマー、Amazonの今年のベストソングの一つに選ばれた。

翌2011年2月には、現マネージメントと契約を結ぶと共に、ソニー・ミュージックエンタテインメント傘下のRCAレコードより、2012年6月、アルバム『ウォーク・ザ・ムーン（Walk The Moon）』でメジャーデビューを果たす。

2014年11月には、メジャーデビュー2作目となる『トーキング・イズ・ハード（Talking is Hard）』を発表。それに先駆けて、同年9月にシングル「シャット・アップ・アンド・ダンス（Shut Up And Dance）」を先行リリース。80年代のヒット色の濃いこの曲は、ビルボード・HOT100のTOP 10にランクイン。これは、彼らにとって、初のヒットとなる（2015年5月30日付け、ビルボードHOT100で4位に上昇している[6]）。また『トーキング・イズ・ハード』もビルボード・TOP200の14位にランクインし、ゴールドディスクを獲得している。

2017年11月には、メジャーデビュー3作目となる『ホワット・イフ・ナッシング（What If Nothing）』を発表。先行シングルとして「ワン・フット（One Foot）」をリリース。ビルボード・HOT100の65位にランクインすると共に、『ホワット・イフ・ナッシング』もビルボード・TOP200の40位にランクイン。

また2018年にはサマーソニック2018（8月18日・大阪、8月19日・東京）にも出演、3年ぶりの来日公演を果たした。
