ソフィア・グロスマン
ソフィア・グロスマン (Sophia Grojsman、1945年3月8日 - ) は世界的な調香師で米国 International Flavors and Fragrances (IFF) 社の副社長[1]。イヴ・サン=ローランの「パリ」、カルバン・クラインのエタニティ、またダウニーの「エイプリルフレッシュ」に至るまで、多くの香りを調合してきた。
生い立ち 編集
1945年、旧ソビエト連邦のベラルーシで生まれ、野生の花や緑の森に囲まれて育ったという。「子供の頃から、味と匂いが大好きでした。おもちゃはありませんでしたが、花に魅了されました」[2]。家族は彼女が15歳のときにポーランドに移り、そこで分析無機化学の理学士号を取得。1965年、ナチスドイツ時代にソフィアの父が救ったというユダヤの家族の招きで米国に移住した[3]。International Flavors and Fragrances 社で、当時の世界の偉大な調香師の1人であるアーネスト・シファンに師事する。1996年、米国香水学会から Living Legend Award を受賞。2016年、フレグランス財団から「年間の香水業者、生涯功労賞」を受賞。米国を代表する女性調香師である[4]。
