Honda Fit 編集

Hi to all. I am an editor from the English wiki. (As my account name is deemed too close to another editor on the Japanese wiki, I have to adopt an alternate name.) I am sorry that I cannot read or type in Japanese. (But I may be able to use translation by computer to read your response.)

In this article of Honda Fit, it reads ' Honda originally intended to name the car "Fitta", but shortened the name in some markets, and renamed it completely in others, upon discovering that in several Nordic languages, fitta is a popular and vulgar slang word for female genitalia. ' and refers to a Swedish site [1] which claims (in English translation) that: in Japan "[p]romotional brochure and posters were already printed"; "first commercials ... were already made" until Honda realized the mistake; and it cost[ed] several million euros. It also mentioned the story come from a Japanese car magazine. Can any editor confirm or refute the above? Thanks. (P.S. If possible, please join the discussion here--North wiki1会話2014年7月15日 (火) 15:09 (UTC)返信

Honda registered 'Fitta' as trademark in 1998[2]. According to Gendai Business[3], Honda had already registered trademark, printed brochures using the name 'Fitta', however, Honda noticed the Nordic meaning of Fitta and changed its name Fit.--TTTNIS会話2014年7月15日 (火) 16:34 (UTC)返信
