English: Frederick Sandys was one of the most gifted illustrators of the Pre-Raphaelite circle. The medieval character of Sandys’ wood engravings is based on his appreciation and study of the work of Albrecht Dürer (1471–1528). This image accompanied a poem based on the Greek myth in which Cassandra admonishes Helen of Troy for her role in bringing about the Trojan War. (see references) |
