Actual US military serial 44-29366.
Built as a B-25J in September 1944 and served with US based units until converted to a TB-25N in July 1954. Served in the training role until finally retired in May 1958. Sold to Sonora Flying Services, converted to a fire-bombing tanker and registered as N9115Z. One of 18 Mitchells used by Tallmantz Aviation for filming of ‘Catch 22’ movie in 1969. Joined David Tallichet’s Military Aircraft Restoration Corp in 1972, but flown to the UK in 1978 for filming ‘Hanover Street’, along with four other B-25s. Stored at Blackbushe at end of filming, although also used in filming ‘Eye of the Needle’ in 1981. Loaned to the RAF Museum and moved to Hendon late in 1982. Acquired fully in 1983, she remains on display in the Bomber Command Hall.
