[[838年]]の初期に、[[ローマ]]に巡礼した後、[[ユダヤ教]]に[[改宗]]して[[ユダヤ人]]となった。改宗は[[カロリング朝]]の文化（[[:en:Carolingian Renaissance|Carolingian]] culture）の棄却のように注視され<!--?-->、彼は[[839年]]フランスを去って[[イスラム]]の[[スペイン]]へ行き、[[ヘブライ語]]の名前エルアーザール ''[[:en:Eleazar|Eleazar]]'' （ボード・エリエゼルという風に）を用い、ユダヤ人女性と結婚した。

 

 

== アルバロとの往復書簡 ==

ボードとアルバロは共に「改宗者」であり、アルバロはボードをキリスト教へ、ボードはアルバロをユダヤ教に戻し、相手を論駁しようと対話を開始した。

 

下の手紙はアルバロへの論駁であるが、ボードへの論駁である：
