オウムはペットとして人気があるが、飼育することは容易でない。しかし、[[オカメインコ]]は飼うことがとても容易なため、ペットとして非常に人気が高い。白色のオウムにくらべてクロオウムの飼育はあまり一般的ではない。大規模な野生種の捕獲による違法な取引によって、絶滅に瀕している種もある。
==名前の由来==
