== 来歴 ==
[[マサチューセッツ州]]ハミルトン出身。妹が3人いる<ref name="site">{{citeCite web|url=http://www.davidmorse.org/bio/|title=''David Morse'' Biography|publisher=Unofficial David Morse website|accessdate=August 2008-08-14, 2008}}</ref>。高校卒業後、[[ボストン]]の[[:w:William Esper Studio|William Esper Studio]]で演技を学び<ref>{{citeCite web|url=http://www.nycastings.com/Resources_s/ViewResourceDetail.asp?Qn=98|title=William Esper Studio for Acting|accessdate=August 2008-08-14, 2008}}</ref>、1970年代初めからBoston Repertory Theatreで舞台に立つ。1980年代にはニューヨークに移り、[[オフ・ブロードウェイ]]の舞台で活躍するようになる。[[1980年]]に映画『サンフランシスコ物語』にてデビューするが端役ばかりが続き、TV、舞台での活動が中心だった。
ハリウッドのメジャー作品からアート系のヨーロッパ映画まで、その活動は幅広い。
[[1982年]]に結婚し、娘1人と息子2人の3人の子供がいる<ref name="site" />。
