|ShortSummary = ロンドンへ向かう列車の中で、脚本家のジャック・エドガーは隣に座った女性からロマノフ家の末裔のサイモンの話を聞かされる。子どものころ、火事で母のナタリーは死んでサイモンは死にかけ、サイモンはベビーシッターで父のジョージの愛人のオンディーヌによる放火を疑う。サイモンは寄宿制の学校に送られ、父とオンディーヌは結婚して息子のジャックをもうける。サイモンは香港で働き、同性愛の恋人に捨てられる。数年後、サイモンは重病の父を見舞った後に自殺を図って精神病院に収容され、自分が[[トランスジェンダー]]であることを受け入れ、やがて女性としてキャンディスを名乗る。キャンディスはオンディーヌを訪ねて家宝のイアリングを要求するが、ジャックに贈ったと言われる。現在、ジャックは隣の女性が腹違いの兄サイモンであることに気づく。キャンディスに毒を盛られたジャックは死に、キャンディスは荷物の中から母のイアリングを盗んでつける。列車を降り、駅で待つオンディーヌとジャックの婚約者の前を通り過ぎる。
|ShortSummary = On a train to [[London]], screenwriter Jack Edgar sits next to a woman who tells him the story of Simon, a present-day Romanov. As a child, Simon almost dies in a house fire which kills his mother. He suspects that the fire was lit by his babysitter, Ondine (with whom his father George is having an affair). Simon is sent to boarding school and George and Ondine marry. Years later, Simon tries to reconcile with his ailing father. Failing that, he attempts suicide, but is admitted to a mental hospital, where he accepts that he is transgender, and over time transitions into a woman named Candace. Determined to have her mother's heirloom Romanov earrings, Candace visits Ondine and demands them from her, only to be told that they have been given to George and Ondine’s son, Jack. Back in the present, Jack realizes his traveling companion is his half-brother Simon, now Candace. She tells him that she has secretly poisoned him as revenge against Ondine, and Jack dies as the train pulls into the station. Candace takes her mother’s earrings from his luggage and wears them as she walks past Ondine and Jack’s fiancée.
