概要

DGDは動物、植物、並びに微生物の発生に関わる諸現象を取り扱う学際的な雑誌である。個体の成長、形態形成、細胞分化、発生過程における細胞のふるまいといった現象を制御する機構を、分子生物学、生物物理学、あるいは生化学なアプローチで明らかにする論文が掲載されている。1950に創刊された学術雑誌Embryologiaの後継雑誌として1969年に創刊された。様々な学問分野をカバーしており、上記の分野に加え、幹細胞生物学、遺伝学、神経科学、EvoDevo、EcoDevo、医科学や新技術に関する論文、並びにバイオリソースに関する論文も受け付けている。2007年より、DGD Awardsが創設され、年間最も引用された論文の責任著者にEditor-in-Chief Prizeが、最も年間ダウンロード数が多かった論文にWiley Prizeが贈られている。また、2011年より、原著論文のポスドク、あるいは大学院生の筆頭著者にDGD Young Investigator Paper Awardが贈られている。
