概要 編集

Windows 10 Mobileは、Windows Phone 8.1の後継にあたるOSであり、デスクトップ版Windows 10とプラットフォームが完全に統一されている。名称はかつてマイクロソフトが展開していたモバイルオペレーティングシステムのWindows Mobileにちなむ。

ユニバーサルWindowsプラットフォーム 編集

Windows 10で導入されたユニバーサルWindowsプラットフォーム (UWP) 用に開発されたアプリは、一つのコードでWindows 10, Windows 10 Mobile, Windows 10 IoTで動作させることが出来る。言い換えれば、UWPでアプリを開発することで、PCでもスマートフォンでも動作する。また、旧来のWindows Phoneアプリとの互換性も確保されており、それらのアプリはデスクトップ版Windows 10では動作しないが、Windows 10 Mobileでは動作する。

Microsoft OfficeやOneDriveとの親和性 編集

プレインストールのMicrosoft OfficeやMicrosoft OneDriveとの高い親和性を売りとしており、デバイスのデータや設定を簡単にOneDriveにバックアップ、同期することができる。PCでOneDriveにOffice 文書を保存しておけば、Windows 10 MobileでもOneDriveから直接Office Mobileアプリで閲覧や編集が可能。ただし、Continuum for phonesでWord、ExcelおよびPowerPointで編集機能を使用するには、Office 365のサブスクリプションが必要となる。2016年3月31日までは無料で試用可能[4]。

Microsoft Windows 10 mobile のサポート終了に伴い、Microsoft Windows 10 mobile 向けMicrosoft Office アプリのサポートが2021年1月12日に打ち切られることが発表された[5]。

Windows Phone からの継承 編集

Windows 10 Mobileは、Windows Phone 8.1の機能を受け継いでおり、パーソナルアシスタントのCortanaがサポートされているほか（日本語にも対応した）、Wi-Fi センサーや、アクション センター、ウォレットなどをサポートしている。Windows Phone独自の入力方法も受け継がれており、Windows Phone 7.5で導入されたカーブ フリック（日本語入力の際に、フリック入力でカーブに入力することで濁点・半濁点・拗音・促音が一度に入力できる）、Windows Phone 8.1で導入されたワードフロー入力（英語入力の際に、スクリーン キーボード上で指を離さずに一筆書きのように動かすことで単語が入力できる）が利用できる。

デュアルSIM端末では、従来のWindows Phoneと同じく、電話タイルとメッセージング タイルが2つあり、SIMごとに分かれている。これにより、使い分けが簡単にできる。SIMにはそれぞれ好きな名前をつけることができ、SIMごとに機能を完全にオフにする（そのSIMの通信を完全に遮断する）ことも可能である。

エンタープライズ向け機能 編集

エンタープライズ向け機能も充実しており、デバイスの暗号化、Enterprise Data Protection, BitLocker, Credential Guard, Device Guard, Trusted Boot, Conditional accessがサポートされており、PC向けWindows 10と同じく強固なセキュリティが確保される[6][7]。 また、モバイルデバイス管理 (MDM) 機能が提供されており、Azure Active Directory (Azure AD)への参加がサポートされている。Dynamic Provisioningにより、BYODに対しても柔軟な管理機能を提供する。また、クラウドでホストされているアプリへのシングル サインオンや、基幹業務アプリのサイドローディング、ビジネス向け Windows ストア、きめ細やかな UX 制御の各機能もサポートしている[6][7]。 これらの機能に加え、Mobile Enterpriseではさらに、Windows Update for Business と Current Branch for Business (CBB)に対応している[7]。

コードネーム 編集

コードネームは「Threshold（スレッショルド）」（ビルド 10586まで）および「Redstone（レッドストーン）」（ビルド 14267から）。

サポート終了 編集

2019年12月10日にサポートが終了、設定や一部アプリのバックアップの自動作成や手動作成は、サポート終了後の3か月間（2020年3月10日まで）利用出来た。[8][9]

新機能 編集

標準アプリ
標準アプリがユニバーサル Windows プラットフォーム (UWP) アプリとして刷新された。そのため、レイアウトやデザインがWindows 10と統一されている。
Microsoft Edge
Web ブラウザー。デスクトップ版と同じく、Windows 10 MobileでもInternet Explorerに代わる新たなデフォルト ブラウザーとして搭載される。
デスクトップ版と異なり、従来のInternet Explorer 11は搭載されない。
エクスプローラー
従来の「ファイル」アプリに変わって、新たにエクスプローラーが搭載された（デスクトップ アプリである、Windows 10のエクスプローラーとは異なる）。
Continuum for phones
Windows 10 MobileデバイスをHDMIディスプレイやBluetoothキーボードと接続することで、あたかもデスクトップPCのようにUWP アプリを使用できる機能。
また、Continuum使用中でもデバイスを使用することが可能であり、デスクトップで作業したままデバイスでメールを閲覧したりすることが可能[6]。
また、この機能はハードウェア要件が高く、マイクロソフトではサポートするプロセッサをQualcomm MS8992 (Snapdragon 808)、MS8994 (Snapdragon 810)、MSM8952 (Snapdragon 617)のみとしている[10]。
Windows Hello
生体認証機能。顔・虹彩・指紋を用いてユーザーを認証することができる。ただし、2016年1月現在の対応端末はLumia 950およびLumia 950 XLのみ（ともに日本未発売）。

アップデートとサポート 編集

Windows 10 Mobile にはデスクトップ版Windows 10 と同じく Windows Update が搭載されており、Windows as a Service（サービスとしての Windows）モデルのもと、アップデートが継続的にOTA配信されていた。また、Windows Phone 8.1までと異なり、アップデートを配信する際に通信キャリアや端末メーカーを経由せず、直接マイクロソフトがアップデートを配信する形をとっている[15][16]。

  • Improved app launch reliability and certain crashes that were causing the phone to reboot are also fixed.
