The cadets' uniforms date this photograph to the 1930s. The scene is the parade ground in front of College Hall (completed 1933). The cadets wear airman-pattern uniforms (wool serge, as distinct from officers' barathea) but with officer-pattern cap badges; the escorting cadet under-officer (with sword) wears a pilot's brevet, and two of the cadets still wear airman-pattern shoulder patches.

The photograph was scanned from Finn, C. J. et al (2004). Air Publication 3003. HMSO. The entire publication, including its photographs, was issued under Crown Copyright. Although copyright for the publication is dated at 2004, the Crown Copyright on the photographs starts from the date when they were taken. Trenchard died in 1956 and so this photograph is more than 50 years old which places it in the public domain.
