ジャン・メーウス（Jean Meeus, 1928年12月 - ）は、ベルギーの気象学者・アマチュア天文家。天体力学を専門に扱い[1]、球面天文学や天体力学を関心領域とする[1]。
経歴 編集
ジャン・メーウスはベルギーのルーヴェン大学で数学を研究し、1953年に修士の学位を取得[1]。1993年の退職までブリュッセル空港にて気象予報士を務めた[1]。
業績・表彰 編集
地球の特定の地点・特定の日における太陽の位置（日の出や日の入りなど）の計算、コンプトゥス（復活祭の日曜日の計算アルゴリズム）など、さまざまな天文計算式を著書『アストロノミカル・アルゴリズムス』(Astronomical Algorithms) などで紹介している。小惑星番号 13579 の天体にオール・オッド（「全部奇数」）[2]、24680 の天体にオール・イーヴン（「全部偶数」）という名称を提案した[3]。
