グレアム・ジョイス

グレアム・ジョイス（Graham Joyce、1954年10月22日 - 2014年9月9日）は、イギリスの作家。生涯にオー・ヘンリー賞、世界幻想文学大賞、英国幻想文学大賞6回を受賞した。

経歴 編集

イギリス中部の都市コヴェントリー近郊にある炭坑町で、労働者階級の家庭に生まれる。大学で教育学を学び、1977年にビショップ・ロンズデール・カレッジで学士号を、1980年にレスター大学で修士号を取得。[1]1988年まで英国ユースクラブ連盟（英語版）（the National Association of Youth Clubs）で働き、退職後ギリシャのレスボス島とクレタ島に転居して第一長編Dreamsideを執筆、1991年に刊行。イングランドに帰国して専業作家となる。ノッティンガム・トレント大学より博士号を授与され、1996年から死去するまで同大学でクリエイティブ・ライティングを教えた。家族は妻と一男一女。

2013年に悪性リンパ腫と診断され、2014年9月9日に死去。[2]

イングランド・ライターズ・フットボール・チームでは正ゴールキーパーを務め、ドイツ、イタリア、スウェーデン、ノルウェー、イスラエル、ハンガリー、トルコ、オーストリアの作家チームとの国際定期戦に出場した。その経験をもとにノンフィクションSimple Goalkeeping Made Spectacularを執筆している。コヴェントリー・シティFCのサポーターでもあり、ファンジンに時折執筆していた。
