『レジェンズ・ネヴァー・ダイ』（英: Legends Never Die）は、アメリカ合衆国のラッパー、ジュース・ワールドの3作目のスタジオ・アルバム。彼の死後、2020年7月10日にGrade A Productionsとインタースコープ・レコードからリリースされた。アルバムには、客演としてザ・ウィークエンド、トリッピー・レッド、マシュメロ、ポロ・G、ザ・キッド・ラロイ、ホールジーが参加している。

本作は、リリース初週に49.7万枚を売り上げ、本国アメリカのBillboard 200で1位を獲得、他にもカナダやイギリスなど複数の国でも1位を獲得した。このアルバムから「Righteous」、「Tell Me U Luv Me」、「Life's a Mess」、「Come & Go」、「Wishing Well」、「Smile」がシングルカットされた。

背景 編集

ジュース・ワールドが亡くなった翌月の2020年1月、ジュースは亡くなるまでに少なくとも2,000曲以上をレコーディングしていたと報じられていた。そのうち26曲が、「999 WRLD」と名乗るユーザーによってストリーミング・プラットフォームSoundCloudに流出した[2]。ジュースのレーベル (Grade A) と彼の家族が、未発表曲についての声明を発表した。

2020年5月4日、ジュースのガールフレンドであるアリー・ロッティーは、ジュース・ワールドが次回作のアルバムにしようと考えていた『The Outsiders』というタイトルのアルバムについて言及した[4]。しかし、レーベルとジュース・ワールドの死を悲嘆にくれる家族は『The Outsiders』のリリースを遅らせることを選択し、2020年7月7日、『Legends Never Die』というタイトルの全15曲のトリビュート・アルバムをリリースすることを発表した[5]。発表の2日後、ジュースのマネージャーであるリル・ビビーは、ファンがより多くの曲を要求したため、本作のデラックス・エディションのリリースを仄めかした[6]。

2020年4月24日、「Righteous」を本作のリードシングルとしてリリース[7]。2020年5月29日、トリッピー・レッドを客演に迎えた「Tell Me U Luv Me」をセカンドシングルとしてリリース[8]。2020年7月6日、ホールジーを客演に迎えた「Life's a Mess」をサードシングルとしてリリース[9]。同日、アルバムの予告編ビデオが公開された[10]。2020年7月9日、EDMプロデューサーであるマシュメロを客演に迎えた「Come & Go」をフォースシングルとしてリリース[11]。2020年7月28日、「Wishing Well」をフィフスシングルとしてリリース[12]。2020年8月7日、ザ・ウィークエンドを客演に迎えた「Smile」をシックスシングルとしてリリース[13]。

売上 編集

本作は、リリース初週に49.7万枚 (純粋なアルバム売上は20.9万枚) を売り上げ、本国アメリカのBillboard 200で初登場1位を獲得した。これはジュースにとって2作目の全米1位を獲得した作品となった。また、7月29日週までに、楽曲のストリーミング再生は4億2,263万回を記録した[14]。さらに、本作に収録されている17曲がリリース週のBillboard Hot 100で同時チャートインし、そのうち5曲がTop 10入りを果たした[15] (「Come & Go」(2位)、「Wishing Well」(5位)、「Conversations」(7位)、「Life's a Mess」(9位)、「Hate the Other Side」(10位))。5曲同時Top 10入りはビートルズ、ドレイクに次ぐ3組目の記録であり、本作は死後のアーティスト作品としては、過去20年間で最も成功したアルバムとなった[16]。「Life's a Mess」は先週の74位から9位に急上昇した[15]。本作は2020年で109万枚 (純粋なアルバム売上は30.1万枚) を売り上げ、5番目に売れたアルバムとなった[17]。
