2012年のFIA 世界耐久選手権は、国際自動車連盟 (FIA) とフランス西部自動車クラブ (ACO) が共同で開催したFIA 世界耐久選手権 (WEC) の第1回大会である。シリーズは2010年から11年にかけてACOによって開催されたインターコンチネンタル・ル・マン・カップの後継シリーズと言える[1]。1992年のスポーツカー世界選手権終焉以来20年ぶりに復活した耐久レースの世界選手権。シリーズはル・マン・プロトタイプおよびグランド・ツアラー車両の4カテゴリーで争われる。2012年は3月17日のセブリング12時間で開幕し、10月28日の上海6時間で閉幕するまで、全8戦で争われた。

開催スケジュール 編集

当初のカレンダーは2011年11月12日に発表され、4大陸8カ国の8レースで構成された[2]。セブリング、スパ・フランコルシャン、ルマン、およびシルバーストンが2011年のインターコンチネンタル・ル・マン・カップから引き続いて開催され、中国ラウンドは未定ではあったが珠海国際サーキットと上海インターナショナルサーキットのいずれかで開催されることになっていた[3]。3つの新しいレースがインテルラゴス・サーキット、バーレーン・インターナショナル・サーキット、富士スピードウェイで開催され、プチ・ル・マンに代わるラウンドとなった[4]。12月7日には改訂カレンダーが発表され、バーレーンと富士の開催順が変更となり[5]、2月2日にACOは最終戦の上海が10月27日に開催されると確認した[6]。全てのレースは時間制限レースとなった。セブリング12時間レースはエントラントの半数がアメリカン・ル・マン・シリーズからとなるが、ポイントは世界選手権にカウントされない。

エントリー 編集

世界耐久選手権はLe Mans Prototype 1 (LMP1) 、Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2) 、Le Mans Grand Touring Endurance - Professional (LMGTE Pro) 、Le Mans Grand Touring Endurance - Amateur (LMGTE Am) の4クラスから成る。2012年のエントリーリストはフランス西部自動車クラブが2月2日に発表し、それぞれ9台のLMP1、LMP2車両、5台のLMGTE Pro、7台のLMGTE Amがエントリーし、30台のフルグリッドが埋まった[7]。フルシーズンエントリーチームからの追加エントリーは、1チームに付き最大3台まで許可される。

選手権ポイントを獲得するには優勝者の走行距離の70%以上を走行しなければならない。各カテゴリーのポールポジション獲得ドライバーおよびチームにはボーナスポイント1が与えられる。ル・マン24時間レースでは全てのポイントが2倍になる。
